The DCP (East), Gurugram, has submitted before the Lokayukta that staff utilised their own sources of power and paid from their own pocket while the DHBVN had suspended supply to the Sushant Lok police station for over two years following non-payment of dues.
On April 17, the Lokayukta had asked the DCP to respond within 30 days to a complaint that electricity theft was carried out allegedly by the office of the Gurugram DCP (East) in Sushant Lok for 28 months.
Not satisfied with the answer, the Lokayukta has now directed the DCP (East) to mention the names of persons who utilised their own sources from their own pocket. The Lokayukta has also asked the official to get information as to what were the temporary sources for supply of electricity and if it was battery operated, what was the source to get it charged.
The Lokayukta has sought these reports from the DCP (East), Gurugram, through the DGP, Haryana, within 15 days and adjourned the case to October 9.
Harinder Dhingra, an RTI activist, had filed a complaint in this regard before the Lokayukta after which the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) was asked to inquire into the matter. In its report to the Lokayukta, the DHBVN had stated that it had disconnected the power supply to the office of the DCP (East) on April 20, 2012, for non-payment of dues of Rs 3,93,104. The amount was paid on August 7, 2014, and the DHBVN restored the power supply on the same day. The report said it was found in the probe that the office of the DCP (East) in Gurugram had been provided electricity during this period without a proper connection.
