Registration of legal documents — including power of attorney, agreement deeds, partnership deeds and indemnity bonds — is set to cost more in Haryana owing to a steep hike in stamp duty rates following approval of the Indian Stamp (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2018, at the monsoon session of the Assembly.

Stamp duty on power of attorney  has been raised from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 and on partnership deed to Rs 1,000. Similarly, there has been a massive hike on the stamp duty on agreement deeds — from Rs 2.25 to Rs 2,000. Also, stamp paper for executing various types of agreements would now cost Rs  100. The rate of indemnity bond has gone up from Rs 15 to Rs 100.
