Panipat, July 17
The police on Wednesday cracked a kidnapping case with the arrest of five persons, including a woman. They had allegedly abducted an agriculturist from Panipat.
Haryanvi dancer Kajal Chaddha is allegedly the mastermind behind the kidnapping. She knew the agriculturist, Naresh Agghi, well. The police also recovered Rs 15 lakh out of Rs 20 lakh ransom from their possession.
Naresh (62) was kidnapped along with his Range Rover car from Saudapur village on Assandh road on Friday night. The four miscreants released him near Revali village of Sonepat district after taking a ransom of Rs 20 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Kajal Chaddha of Purewal Colony in the city, Shubham Tyagi and Ankit of Sujanpur Khekra village of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, Amit of Pundri in Karnal district and Narender of Ghasauli village of Sonepat district.
Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar, in a media briefing, said that Inspector Sandeep Kumar, in-charge, CIA-1, and his team nabbed the four men from Sujanpur village of Baghpat district yesterday night. During investigation, they revealed the name of the Kajal Chaddha. After that, she was held from Purewal colony in the city.
Kajal’s mobile number was common in the phone call detail records of the victim and Shubham.
“The case was handed over to CIA-1 in-charge and the team collected evidence by checking footage from over 150 CCTV cameras and cracked the case within 72 hours,” the SP said.
In the preliminary investigation, it came to light that Kajal was well acquainted with Naresh and she knew that he had sold a land for Rs 15 crore some days ago.
Kajal made a plan to kidnap Naresh on July 10 with her friend Shubham Tyagi. He planned the crime with his associates Ankit, Amit and Narender. The miscreants kidnapped Naresh Agghi and Kajal Chaddha on July 12 and took them to an under-construction flat between Delhi and Ghaziabad, he said.
They tied Kajal with Naresh so that he shouldn’t doubt the involvement of Kajal in the crime, the SP said. They demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom from Chirag Agghi, son of Naresh. The deal was finalised for Rs 20 lakh.
Chirag put the bag containing Rs 20 lakh in front of a shop on Murthal road on the directions of the accused. After getting the money, the accused freed Naresh and his Range Rover car near Murthal.
The accused were produced in court and were sent to five-day police custody to recover the I-20 car used in the crime, the weapons used by the accused and Rs 5 lakh ransom money, the SP said.
SP Sumit Kumar congratulated the CIA-1 team and recommended commendation certificate for the CIA-1 in-charge and his team to DGP Manoj Yadav.
