Till four years ago, Abhishek Verma (29) who won a bronze medal in shooting in the Asian Games on Tuesday did not know how to hold a rifle.

He took to shooting when as a hobby when he started going to gym in 2014 in Hisar, where his father was posted at that time.

Abhishek is the son of District and Sessions Judge Ashok Kumar Verma, who is posted in Palwal

In less than four years, Abhishek, who completed LLB from Kurukshetra University last year after pursuing B Tech in computers, not only secured a place in the national team, but also clinched a medal.

Last year, he had represented Kurukshetra University in the All-India University Games and won silver.

After his selection in the national team for the Asian Games in June, Abhishek went to Germany to get training on his own expenses.

“The family is feeling on the top of the world today,” the proud father said.

Verma said Abhishek was equally good in studies and the family always supported his passion for shooting.
