‘Honest Library’ shows the way

Ambala: "Honesty Library" was inaugurated at SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantonment, on Thursday. This library is for students of grades III- XII. Honesty Library will not be managed by any librarian. The students can visit the library during school hours and pick any book of their interest and choice without the assistance of a librarian. The students will enter their details in a register before taking the book with them. The details will include their particulars, the name of the book, date of taking the book and the date of return. The objective of the library is to inculcate the traits of honesty and integrity in children.

MDU to give insurance to students

Rohtak: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) will provide group insurance to students of the university teaching departments (UTD) with effect from academic session 2020-2021. MDU VC Prof Rajbir Singh said this was a unique student-centric welfare scheme. As per the scheme, the sum assured for each student is Rs 1 lakh. The premium shall be shared: 50 per cent will be taken from the students and 50 per cent from the university. MDU is the first university of the state to provide insurance cover to the students.

Seminar on Guru Nanak’s teachings  

Yamunanagar: Guru Nanak Khalsa College organised a seminar on the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev. On the occasion, Tarlochan Singh, former Member of Parliament and former chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, said: "Guru Nanak Dev taught us the practical way of living a socially responsible and productive life." College Principal Major HS Kang said Bhupinder Singh Jauhar, patron of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, welcomed the guests. The program was attended by members of all faith.

Go-green drive at Prarambh   

Jhajjar: Prarambh - the state institute of advanced studies in teacher education - organised 'Paudhgiri' to sow plants on the campus in order to keep it green. "As many as 140 students participated in the campaign and planted silver oaks. The local HDFC Bank promised to sponsor the tree guards during the campaign," said Dr Rishi Goel, Director of Prarambh. 

Placement brochure unveiled

Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar and Registrar Dr Anil Pundir unveiled the training and placement brochure which has been designed and prepared by students Vikas Sharma, Anjali and Neha of the university under the guidance of the training and placement cell. Congratulating all designer students, Professor Kumar said all students should come up with such creative ideas and do work to gain practical knowledge and become industry-ready.
