Chandigarh, October 4
Even as Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was sent to six-day police custody on Wednesday, her former husband and his father moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court for SIT probe into a threat letter.
In an application submitted in the ongoing PIL on incidents of violence after Ram Rahim’s conviction, Vishwas Gupta and his father asked for issuance of directions to the State of Haryana and other respondents to handing over the threat letter by the “qurbani gang” to the special investigating team already probing the matter.
Gupta, through his counsel Pankaj Bhardwaj, claimed that they were having sleepless nights since they came to know about the existence of the letter and were gravely apprehensive about not just about their own safety, but also of their family.
Going into the background of the matter, Gupta contended that he held a press conference at Chandigarh on September 22 to expose the alleged wrongdoings at the dera.
He was also asked a number of questions by journalists, which he answered frankly and truthfully. Agitated and stung by his “audacity” to reveal the truth, apparently some dera followers have again started threatening the applicants and were baying for his blood.
