Former CM and veteran Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda will launch a state-wide mass contact drive from Kandela village in Jind on May 31.
Addressing mediapersons, Hooda said they would focus on having a direct interface with the people in towns, townships and prominent villages to acquaint them about the policies of the Congress and achievements of his 10-year regime. The “anti-people” approach of the BJP government would also be exposed.
“I had started such a programme from Kandela before I became the CM and have chosen the same place to launch the fresh initiative,” he maintained.
There was a mega scam in the conduct of the special survey to assess the damage caused due to inclement weather. He asked farmers to inform him about the irregularities at his official residence, House No. 70, Sector 7, Chandigarh. Hooda further alleged that the sugar mills were yet to pay crores to the sugarcane growers and asked the government to ensure prompt release of their dues.
He accused the BJP government for having closed the thermal power plants established by his government in guise of low demand while the people were reeling under acute power shortage. Flaying the BJP governments at the Centre as well the state, Hooda remarked that the achievement letter released by the government on the completion of the first six months of its tenure was actually a “non-achievement” letter.
