Sonepat: Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, emerged as the winner of the four-day North India Inter-University Women Kabaddi Championship held at Bhagat Phool Singh Women University, Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat. MD University, Rohtak, and Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, got the second and third positions, respectively, in the championship. While distributing prizes among the winners, Vice-Chancellor Sushma Yadav said that the holding of the championship was a great moment for Khanpur Kalan university and it would encourage girls to take up sports. As many as 30 teams from Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi participated in the championship organised by the Association of Indian Universities.
19 students get campus placement
Hisar: As many as 19 students of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, have been selected for the Greater Noida-based Hitech Enviro Engineers and Consultants Pvt Ltd in the campus placement drive conducted by the training and placement cell of the university. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar of the university, congratulated the selected students. While talking about the company in pre-placement talk, Hitesh Mittal, director, claimed that the company is a leader in water and wastewater treatment companies in Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat and Uttarakhand. Partap Singh Malik, director placement, said that 50 students of B.Tech Mechanical, ECE, M.Sc. and M.Tech Environmental Science participated in this drive.
International conference ends
Kurukshetra: The International Conference on Neuroscience at MM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (MMIMSR), under Maharishi Markandeshwar (deemed to be) University, concluded after the valedictory session. The session was jointly chaired by Prof Walter E Muller, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany and Prof Roberto Cappai, University of Melbourne, Australia. Several scientists addressed the meeting and appreciated the efforts of the faculty, research scholars, post-graduate and undergraduate students of MMIMSR and other sister institutes of the university in making this conference a success.
Annual function held
Yamunanagar: Mukand Lal Public School celebrated its annual function with great enthusiasm. The chief guest of the programme was Deputy Commissioner Mukul Kumar. On the occasion, Seth Ashok Kumar, chairperson of Mukand Lal Institutions of Knowledge and Service; Vijay Kumar; Sethani Shyama and school manager Dr Ramesh Kumar were also present. Principal of the school, S Bathla, said that a number of cultural items were presented by the students. She said that the programme started with a tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary through his favourite song ‘Raghupati Raghav’. It was followed by a shabad commemorating the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev and Ganesh vandana by students.
‘Punam Pathshala’ organised
Ambala: Police DAV Public School, Ambala City, organised ‘Punam Pathshala’ in collaboration with Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Upsabha, Haryana, and DAV educational institutions of Ambala zone in the school auditorium. Dr Punam Suri, president, DAV College Managing Committee, and Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, New Delhi, addressed about 600 staff members, Principals, members of Arya Samaj and others. Dr Suri enlightened the teachers on theirs as well as the DAV’s main goal – that is to create good humans with strong character.
Discussion on eco degradation
Faridabad: Pollution is something that most people in the NCR region confront on a daily basis. To bring tangible and effective environment consciousness, JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, in collaboration with the Faridabad chapter of Haryana Environment Protection Foundation (HEPF) organised a panel discussion on ‘Environmental Degradation and Measures for its Protection’ here recently. The session was attended by students and faculty members of the university and other educational institutions.
