Karnal, January 22
A team comprising around 150 officials from Ambala, Karnal, Panipat, Delhi, Gurugram, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Chandigarh and other places led by Parveen Kumar Deputy Director (investigation) today conducted raids at the various establishments of submersible manufacturer Padamsen Gupta, a renowned businessman and main distributor of Patanjali products in Haryana. Gupta is also a close aide of Swami Ramdev. The raids were conducted simultaneously on all premises.
Besides, the Income Tax Department conducted survey at three places in the district, including two rice mills in Taraori and one diesel pump manufacturer in the city. However, officials refused to comment on raids. “I cannot comment as I am not authorised for it. We have conducted raids in Karnal today,” said Parveen Kumar, Deputy Director.
The raids started in the morning and were on when the reports last came in. The team members searched Patanjali Mega Stores situated in Model Town and another store near Committee Chowk.
In addition, raids were also held at residential premises and other establishments of the owners of these stores including a submersible manufacturing unit Oswal Pump near Kutail village on national highway-44. The sources said computer data and some documents were also seized.
