Justice Satish Kumar Mittal, a retired Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court and presently working as Lokpal of Punjab, will be the new Chairman of Haryana Human Rights Commission.
Justice Karam Chand Puri, a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, will be the new Member (Judicial).
The appointments of Justice Mittal and Justice Puri were cleared today by a committee comprising Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Speaker of the state Assembly Kanwar Pal and Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala.
The panel did not approve any name for another vacancy of Member (non-Judicial) and asked the state government to seek more applications for the post.
Gujjar confirmed the appointments and said the decision of the selection committee was unanimous.
The Commission was sans a chairman and members for long as the former Chairman Justice Vijender Jain had retired on August 1, 2016, while the Member (Judicial) Justice HS Bhalla and Member (Non-Judicial) JS Ahlawat had retired on September 19 and 20, 2017, respectively.
