Kaithal Cooperative Sugar Mill has been declared the best sugar mill of Haryana for its achievements in the 2018-19 crushing season.
Mill chairperson Deputy Commissioner Dr Priyanka Soni and MD Jagdeep Singh were honoured by Union Minister Narinder Singh Tomar and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during a state-level function in Yamunanagar on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Soni said here today that the mill functioned for 166 days. During this period, the mill crushed 40.43 lakh quintal sugarcane and produced 4,11,394 lakh quintal sugar with 10.20 per cent recovery.
She said after the inception of the mill, 10.2 per cent sugar recovery has been achieved for the first time and the mill functioned at 98.38 per cent of installed capacity. The mill has earned Rs 2 crore additional revenue by producing 11.73 lakh quintal “khoi” (cane residue) and saving power, she added.
In another achievement, the mill crushed 31,100 quintal sugarcane on December 17, 2018 against the installed capacity of 25,000 quintal.
This is the first mill in the state to survey cane crop through the GPS system. The Deputy Commissioner congratulated cane farmers, mill directors, officials and staff for the achievements.
