Karnal: Four students of MA Punjabi (semester four) of Guru Nanak Khalsa College secured positions in the merit list of the Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra. Amanpreet Kaur got fifth rank, Harpreet Kaur sixth, Amrit Kaur eighth and Parminder Kaur got ninth position in the university merit list. Kanwarjeet Singh Prince, president of College Management Committee, and Dr Seema Sharma, principal, congratulated the students and gave credit to their dedication and also to the faculty members.

Tributes paid to Bhagat Phool Singh

Sonepat: Rich tributes were paid to Bhagat Phool Singh (BPS) on his 77th martyrdom day and to his daughter, late Subhashini Devi, Padamshree awardee on her 105th birth day (August 14) at BPS Women University, Khanpur Kalan. Dr Bal Mukund Pande, organising secretary of the All India History Compilation Project and University's vice-chancellor, Prof Sushma Yadav recalled their contribution for promoting women education by opening a Kanya Gurukul in the forest area of village Khanpur Kalan before county's independence which is now upgraded as women university and women medical college. On the occasion, cash award of Rs 10,000 each was given to 15 poor girls of the university.

I-Day, Raksha Bandhan celebrated

Kaithal: OSDAV school celebrated 73rd Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan with great pomp and show. Suman Nijhawan, principal-cum-RO hoisted National flag and addressed the students and staff of the school. She motivated the students to join Indian Defence services and serve the nation. Meanwhile, various patriotic and cultural programmers were organised which mesmerized the audience and students.

Students of IGMMV win Rs 5,000

Kaithal: Two students Mansi BA (Final) and Reetu BA (II) of Indira Gandhi Mahila Vidyalya (IGMMV) here took part in a national level declamation contest held in Dr BR Ambedkar Govt college here. They won Rs 5,000 cash prize and brought laurels to their institution. Topic of contest was “regionalism has weakened Indian federalism”. Ram Bahadur Khurania, vice president of the college managing committee and teachers congratulated the students.
