Chandigarh, January 6
Balkaur Singh, the lone MLA of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) in Haryana, today joined Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).
He announced his decision in presence of Dushyant’s father Ajay Singh Chautala.
Along with 50-year-old Singh, some local leaders from his Kalanwali reserved Assembly segment in Sirsa also joined the JJP. He said Dushyant was the only leader who could carry forward the legacy of Ch Devi Lal.
With this, the number of MLAs supporting the JJP has gone up to four, as Dabwali MLA Naina Chautala, Uklana MLA Anoop Dhanak and Charkhi Dadri MLA Randeep Fogat are with the JJP.
Balkaur joined the JJP at the same time when SAD’s Haryana unit was meeting to draw up a strategy for the elections. At the meeting, chaired by Balwinder Singh Bhunder, the party mulled over prospects to contest at least two LS seats in the state.
