The state government has decided to transfer the area of Bhagdana village from the Kanina police station to the Mahendragarh police station in public interest. A spokesman said the Bhagdana village panchayat, Mahendragarh, had requested the CM that the area of villages that falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Kanina police station is situated at a distance of about 20-22 km from their village, whereas the Mahendragarh police station is only 5 km. tns

INSO to lock state varsities

The Indian National Students’Organisation (INSO) will launch on November 10 a campaign for locking the state universities to pressure the government for restoring elections to student unions .  Addressing workers in Bahadurgarh town on Tuesday, INSO president Digvijay Chautala said INSO activists would  lock MD University, Rohtak, on November 10, Kurukshetra University on November 13 and Guru Jambheswar University, Hisar, on November 15. tns

Labourer found dead

A 35-year-old labourer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the fields on Tuesday. He was a resident of Raipur Jatan village. Rishipal’s family members alleged that the farmer, with whom he was employed,  and his brothers were involved in the murder. Earlier, he was charged for stealing a tractor by the farmer, Rishipal’s family members said. He was also beaten up by the farmer, they alleged  The police have registered a case against three persons.TNS

PO arrested in Jind

The police arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) from Jind district on Tuesday. Sources said Shishpal alias Pali was named in at least nine criminal cases. Shishpal was declared PO by the courts in five different cases of heinous crimes. The police have seized a pistol and four cartridges from his possession. TNS

ASI suspended for negligence
SP Sangeeta Kalia has suspended ASI Giriraj for not acting on a complaint filed by a couple a month ago. She has also sought explanation from Aman Kumar, SHO, City police station. The SP said, “It is the duty of every police post in charge to take swift action on complaints received.” Ramphal Yadav of Surjanvaas village had lodged a complaint that he along with his wife were assaulted at local bus stand on October 10 while returning from Nuh. The SP also ordered registration of a case in the matter.—TNS

Two held for extortion bid

The Jind police have arrested two persons for allegedly trying to extort money from an arhtiya in Karnal district. A police spokesperson said Sandeep and Satyawan were apprehended from the Hariyal Chowk in Narwana subdivision of Jind. During questioning, the accused said they had tried to extort Rs 3 lakh from Sonu, a trader, at Assandh in Karnal a few days ago. They also confessed to their involvement in a robbery at Sainthali in Jind and Narwana.—TNS

Woman ends life, kin allege foul play  
 

A 23-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her in-laws' house in Nandnaur village on Monday.  However, her brother had alleged that it was not a case of suicide but murder, allegedly committed by her husband and in-laws. In a complaint to the Murthal police today, Priti's brother Bijender, a resident of Satroad village in Hisar district, alleged that soon after her marriage with Pramod in January 2015, she was tortured for bringing dowry by her husband and in-laws.  He said following her torture, Priti lodged a complaint against her in-laws at the Murthal police station yesterday. Later her in-laws reached the police station and reached a compromise with her. However, on reaching home in the evening they allegedly murdered her.  Phool Kumar, SHO, Murthal police station, said on the complaint of Priti's brother, a case has been registered against her husband Pramod, father-in-law Ram Kumar and three other family members, including two women. All the accused are absconding. TNS

One dies in mishap   

Panipat: A 32-year-old person was killed in a road accident near toll plaza on NH-1 on Tuesday. The mishap reportedly occurred due to heavy smog. The deceased, Lalu of Gonda in UP, worked in a textile factory. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination. TNS
