To avenge the death of his wife in a road accident over a month ago, a 35-year-old man allegedly shot a resident of Butana village near Rathdhana turning on the Sonepat-Bahalgarh road late on Saturday.
Sunny (24), deceased, was driving the car that had hit the two-wheeler his alleged assassin’s wife Kamlesh (32) was driving on July 23.
According to the police, Sunny, who works with a private company at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, was going for his duty to Delhi in his car along with his brother-in-law Roop Ram of Busana village and Sunil of Butana. At around 9 pm, Sunny’s car was intercepted by the assailants. The latter stopped their car in front of Sunny’s vehicle, broke its windowpanes and fired three rounds at Sunny from a close range. Sunil was injured when one of the accomplices of Suresh fired at them.
The assailants, who were in a red Maruti car, sped away after committing the crime.
The police took the victims to the local civil hospital where doctors declared Sunny as brought dead. The body was handed over to his family members today.
On Roop Ram’s complaint, a case of murder has been registered against Suresh and two others at the local Sadar police station.
Four teams have been deputed to nab the alleged accused, said Virender Rao, SHO, Sadar police station.
Sunny’s father Sat Pal said the deceased was his only son and had got married last year only.
Sunny was driving the car that knocked down Kamlesh near Bidhal village on Sonepat-Gohana road on July 23. Kamlesh, who was on a scooty with her two children, was returning from her sister’s residence at Gohana. She had succumbed to injuries at the BPS Government Women Medical College and Hospital. Though it was an accidental death, Suresh took it as murder and held Sunny responsible for it.
