Man ‘involved’ in gender test held

A joint team of Karnal and Jind districts’ Health Department held a tout, Mahinder, a resident of Alewa in Jind district, allegedly involved in getting sex determination test of a decoy last night in Assandh.
The team members also recovered Rs 22,000 from the tout given by the decoy. However, the team members did not find any direct involvement of the hospital situated in Assandh, but found several violations of the PCPNDT Act at the ultrasound centre, following which the team members sealed the machine. Dr Yogesh Sharma, Civil Surgeon, Karnal, said the team got information that a tout was active in Jind district for getting the sex determination test in Karnal district, a joint team of Karnal and Jind districts arranged a woman as decoy. —TNS
