Simran Brar, the newly elected sarpanch of the district’s Rehanwali village, plans to install an RO system in the village soon. For this, the MBA degree-holder has contacted Sirsa MP Charanjit Singh Rori for funds from his MPLAD grants.

She is the daughter of former Haryana minister and five-time MLA Dhirpal Singh, Simran is married to Sehajvir Singh, a businessman from Rehanwali village of Fatehabad.

Simran, like many other women, entered the political arena because the post of sarpanch in Rehanwali is reserved for a woman.

“My father-in-law, Gurkirat Singh Brar, was elected sarpanch of the village five consecutive times followed by my late mother-in-law, Pawan Brar. She was the sarpanch for one term,” the newly elected sarpanch said. Simran said education and sanitation were her focus.
