MC fixes charges for door-to-door waste collection

The Municipal Corporation (MC) has fixed charges for door-to-door collection of garbage in the city. The private company authorised to collect and lift the garbage will charge Rs 5 to Rs 5,000 for different establishments and residential premises from June.
Shiv Prasad Sharma, Commissioner, MC, said, “A notification has been issued to collect user charges for garbage collection to the JBM Company. The rates of user charges were set by the state government in 2011 and have not been revised.”
As per the MC Commissioner’s letter, the rates are Rs 5 per month for EWS flats; Rs 20 for plot size up to 100 sq metre; Rs 40 for plot size from 100 to 200 sq metre; Rs 50 for more than 200 square metre plot and Rs 100 for more than 400 square metre residential plots.
For hospitals, the rates are Rs 1,500 (up to 50-bedded hospital, nursing homes); Rs 3,000 (more than 50-bedded) and Rs 5,000 (more than 100-bedded hospitals) while Rs 0.50 per square feet will be charged for malls, shopping complexes, cinema halls and industries. The MC will charge Rs 4,000 for banks, seminar halls, guest houses and hostels with more than 10 rooms.
The MC will fixed Rs 1,000 for petrol pumps and gas stations, Rs 500 for up to two acres; Rs 1,000 from two acres to five acres and Rs 2,000 for educational institutes in more than five acres. The MC will charge Rs 150 for state and Central government offices, society offices and welfare organisations.
