The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given its nod to admission for the third MBBS batch at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH).
A team of the MCI had inspected the institution in November last year and then on April 10 to verify essential requirements to admit the next batch. On the basis of the inspection report, the MCI issued the permission letter.
The KCGMCH had admitted the first batch of 100 students in 2017. After getting permission for the second batch last year, it had gone ahead with admissions.
The college will admit the third batch in August through NEET. The college will have to obtain permission every year till the first batch passes out.
After getting nod for the third batch, the college management is elated as it will boost the morale of students and attract aspiring doctors from the region in future batches.
“We applied for permission for the third batch of 100 students in June last year. The MCI team inspected the college twice,” said Dr Surinder Kashyap, KCGMCH Director.
“We have been informed that we can admit students for the third batch. This permission will attract aspiring doctors in future batches,” he said.
“We are making all-out efforts to provide the best health facilities to people of the region. We will apply in June for permission to admit students in the fourth batch,” he added.
