Rohtak, May 8

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, has outscored the University of Delhi (DU) in an evaluation conducted by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recently. MDU scored 3.44 points while DU was awarded 3.28 points.

Interestingly, MDU has beaten DU in five of the seven key parameters adopted by NAAC to evaluate higher institutions.

“In the recent report of the NAAC peer team, MDU has performed better than DU in curricular aspects, teaching-learning and evaluation, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance, leadership and management criteria. It also improved its own score by 0.41 points as compared to 2013,” said Prof Rajbir Singh, Vice Chancellor (VC), MDU.

He said the peer team had in March inspected facilities, departments and offices of the univeristy besides interacting with its functionaries, faculty members, research scholars, students and non-teaching employees. The team then submitted its report to NAAC which accredited it with an A+ grade.

“An average 16-year experience of teaching faculty, declaration of results within a month and use of information and communication technology by over 90 per cent teachers helped us to outdo DU in teaching-learning and evaluation criteria. A total 451 teachers, including 72 resource persons, are at present employed in MDU,” the VC added.
