Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said media houses owe a public explanation about their ethical conduct after several corporate honchos were caught on camera offering to sell editorial space for cash.
“A section of media organisations are compromising on journalistic ethics,” he told The Tribune here on Thursday on the sidelines of a media outreach programme of the Aam Aadmi Party.
“The Cobrapost videos have exposed what I have been saying about some media outlets. The conversations that are in public domain have raised questions about the credibility of the media outlets. Top executives of several leading organisations are heard responding to conversation on the communal agenda and slanted media coverage,” he said.
Kejriwal said the agenda-driven journalism was a threat to the democracy. “It amounts to hijacking the public opinion for revenue. Appropriate authorities should take cognisance of the matter,” he added.
