Hisar, October 14
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has doubled the monthly honorarium of “nambardars” to Rs 3,000, besides announcing mobile phones for them.
He announced this at a “nambardar sammelan” here on Sunday. “The honorarium will be credited to their bank accounts. The ‘nambardars’ will be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which provides for a health cover of up to Rs5 lakh,” he said.
Khattar further said, “A ‘nambardar’ is key to the functioning of a village as he is part of a permanent set-up, unlike a political party that assumes or relinquishes power as per people’s verdict.”
The CM said “nambardars” would be called for a meeting and trained every three months for improving their performance.
Khattar said the government’s target was to bring pendency of “intekals” (land mutation) to zero. “About 4 lakh ‘intekals’ were pending when the BJP government assumed power in 2014. Now, only 20,000 mutations are pending.”
“Nambardars” honoured Khattar by presenting him with a shawl, a “pagri” and a stick.
The Chief Minister urged farmers to shun stubble-burning.
Later, interacting with mediapersons, he expressed shock at the Gurugram shooting incident. “It is unthinkable that a security guard would behave this way. It is a serious matter. Police officials, especially those on security duty, will be counselled,” Khattar said.
On student elections, he said some outfits were trying to create trouble in the smooth conduct of polls. “The INLD and Congress failed to conduct student elections during their regime. The BJP has fulfilled its pre-poll promise,” he added.
