The widening and repair of 1.97-km Danialpur village road is yet to commence even as nine months have passed after an announcement by CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

The road, which connects several villages and the approach road to two major schools of the city, is in a dilapidated condition.

Residents living in the vicinity have approached the department concerned and the district authorities to get the road repaired, but to no avail.

Sourabh Singla, who resides in the vicinity, said the road is in such a poor state that commuters often take longer alternative routes to avoid driving on this 2-km-long road. Accidents have become a routine on it, he said.

On the demand of Minister of State for Food and Supplies Karan Dev Kamboj, the CM had announced the widening and repair of this road while addressing a rally in Indri on February 26.

In 2016, the department had planned to repair the road, but due to encroachments on it, the plan could not be implemented, said sources.

“The project has been sanctioned and the work will begin this week,” said SS Dhanda, SDO, PWD.
