Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini on Sunday said no caste in the state comprised more than 10 per cent of the population and those claiming a population share of over 20 per cent were lying.

A community totalling less than 10 per cent had been enjoying 55 per cent share in government jobs, he claimed. He was was addressing a public meeting to mark his 66th birthday. He cut a cake on the occasion.

“We have vowed to remove caste-based discrimination and will ensure reservation to all castes as per share in population if voted to power. The population of any caste is not over 10 per cent. Those who object can produce evidence,” he said.

He asserted that caste-based discrimination would not be tolerated further and his struggle against it would continue. Deprived castes would be given government jobs as per their population share and contractual system for Class IV jobs would be removed if voters gave him the chance to form the government, he said.

“We will announce our political outfit in August and contest all Assembly and Lok Sabha seats in the state. Our party will give the ticket in other states if any influential candidate demands it,” he said.

Attacking the Congress, he said neither Sonia Gandhi nor Rahul Gandhi was aware of problems of the common man. The Congress was a group of sycophants who wanted power, but had nothing to do with the interests of the common man, he claimed.

Saini said the BJP government had failed to live up to the expectations of weaker sections of society, which had played an instrumental role in formation of the state government. He attacked the INLD, describing it as a family gang.
