Over 15,000 students take part in walkathon

Akal Academy organised India’s biggest walkathon ever in four states i.e. Haryana, Punjab, U.P., and Rajasthan. Over 15,000 students of 116 Akal academies participated.

The 2-km walkathon, titled ‘Race Against Drug Addiction’ was flagged off from the main gates of all the 116 academies at the same time. Around 200 students of Akal Academy Baragura, 120 of Akal Academy Ellenabad, 108 of Akal Academy Darewala, 70 of Akal Academy Rori, 70 of Akal Academy Khokhar from Sirsa district participated in the walkathon.

Students covered the nearby villages and spread the message. They also motivated the villagers to understand the harmful effects of drugs. Akal Academies are run by the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, Sirmaur District in Himachal Pradesh. The academy offers modern education with spiritual values.

“Our students have been successful in helping their parents come out of drug and alcohol addiction,” said Paramjeet Kaur, Principal of Akal Academy Baragura in Sirsa.
