Panipat Mayor, 26 councillors take oath
Panipat, January 4
Newly elected Mayor Avneet Kaur and 26 members of the municipal corporation (MC) took oath here on Friday. Vineet Garg, Karnal Divisional Commissioner, administered the oath to the Mayor and councillors.
Avneet Kaur had registered the highest margin of victory among the recent mayoral poll winners. Of the 26 winners to the local MC, 22 are of the BJP, three Independents and one Congress-backed.
“Development of the city and maintaining harmony are my priorities,” said Avneet Kaur. She was interacting with mediapersons after taking oath.
“Cleanliness of the city, development of parks, beautification of religious places and better facilities in industrial areas are other works on my priority list,” she added. — TNS
