Police crack murder case, term it as gang war

The police have claimed to have cracked Rakesh Shyokand murder case with the arrest of three persons near the refinery road flyover last night.

The three accused were reportedly planning to loot commuters. The police recovered five pistols and 17 cartridges from the possession of the trio.

The accused were identified as Rahul of Sewah village in Panipat, Gagan of Kalkhi village in Mahendragarh and Vijay of Bhavad village in Sonepat.

Rakesh’s murder in Panipat on July 12 was the result of enmity between rival criminal gangs active in Jind district, said Inspector Sandeep, in charge, CIA-1.

“Rahul admitted that he and his friends shot Rakesh on the direction of Parsann, alias Lambu, a resident of Sewah currently lodged in the Jind jail in a murder case,” he said.

“Rahul told us that Tooti of Vijay gang in Jind district had been murdered and he was the main witness in that case,” he said.

“Rahul told us that Rakesh’s friend Vicky, associated with Jhabbal gang, was the main accused in that murder case,” he said.

Rahul claimed that Rakesh and Vicky had been pressurising and threatening him to turn hostile, said Sandeep. Lambu of Vijay gang had planned to murder Rakesh, he added.

Rahul and eight accomplices had shot Rakesh, he said. Around 15 bullets had been fired by the assailants in the shootout near Jattu Chowk in the tehsil camp main market on July 12.

The accused were today produced in court, which remanded them in three-day police custody. Lambu would be brought from the Jind jail on production warrant for further investigation, said Sandeep.
