A senior professor at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), also posted as Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) at the PGIMS, has been booked on the charge of misbehaving with and manhandling the UHS Vice-Chancellor.
A case has been registered against Dr Brijender Singh Dhillon, senior professor, UHS, and head (hospital administration) and DMS, PGIMS.
As per the police complaint lodged against the DMS by the PGIMS Security Officer, the UHS Vice-Chancellor, Dr OP Kalra, was on a round of the PGIMS yesterday. He was accompanied by the PGIMS Director, Medical Superintendent, Nursing Superintendent and other officials.
As the team reached the labour room, Dr Dhillon, already there, allegedly stopped them from entering the labour room without following the prescribed protocol. He allegedly raised his voice while doing so.
When the team members led by the Vice-Chancellor turned back, the DMS allegedly gripped the Vice-Chancellor’s hand and asked him to have a look at the room meant for attendants of patients.
As per the security supervisor accompanying the team, Dr Dhillon told the Vice-Chancellor that he had written 50 times for the construction of a separate toilet for the attendants of the patients, but to no avail.
“You have spent lakhs from the government exchequer on the bathroom of your own house, but the public is being deprived of this basic facility,” the DMS reportedly said.
