Chandigarh, August 31
The state government has decided to amend the Haryana PWD Schedule of Rates, 1988, to make the estimates of projects rational and competitive, and further improve the quality of development works.
A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the department held under the chairmanship of Public Works (B&R) Minister Rao Narbir Singh here yesterday.
It was decided at the meeting to constitute a fact-finding committee to make the Haryana PWD Schedule of Rates, 1988, on the pattern of the Delhi Schedule of Rates, which would comprise retired engineers of the department and representatives of contractor unions. The committee would study goods chapter-wise and submit its report within six months after preparing the list and fixing rates.
The minister directed the officials that public utility services such as removal of electricity poles, shuttering or transfer of other such services should not be included in the total cost of development project.
Rao Narbir Singh said a panel would be formed at the zonal level, which would meet regularly and allot works of construction of roads, bridges and buildings to superintending engineers. — TNS
