Rape accused pours acid on victim after hearing

A rape accused allegedly poured acid on the private part of the victim after the court proceedings here on November 22.
The accused, Shailendra Kumar Mishra, called the victim after the court hearing on the pretextof settling things but threw acid at her private part to avenge his humiliation in the court.
According to the police, the 28-year-old victim had complained to the police in March that Shailendra Kumar Mishra had raped her. Mishra was arrested but eventually released on bail. He appeared for court hearings regularly.
The victim claimed that she was returning home with her uncle after the court hearing on November 22 when Mishra called them near a temple at Dundahera village.
“The moment we reached there he forcibly pinned me down to the ground and poured acid on my private part. He threatened me not to attend further court hearings. I wailed in pain, but he fled. My uncle stood there in shock. I made many calls to the police control room but no help arrived. I, somehow, reached home and went to a private doctor for check up,” she said.
The police, after the medical examination of the victim, produced her before a city court, where her statement was recorded under Section 164of the CrPC.
Mishra was booked under Section 326-A (Punishment for acid throwing) of the IPC at the Udyog Vihar police station.
