As many as 480 students admitted to the Echelon Institute of Technology this year will now be able to appear in the semester examinations starting on Tuesday.

Affiliation of the private engineering college was withdrawn in October on charge of violation of norms. The university announced on October 17 that it had withdrawn affiliation to the EIT.

The decision was challenged by the EIT management in the High Court. The High Court, in its order on November 27, directed the university to allow students enrolled this year to appear in the examinations.

Stating that admit cards had been issued, a spokesperson of the university said students could contact the university office in case of any inconvenience.

He said all students of the EIT, including those enrolled since 2017, were issued admit cards and assured that dates for the practical examinations would soon be notified on the university website.

The future of 480 EIT students enrolled this year had became uncertain after the announcement of withdrawal of affiliation.

Though students enrolled earlier were offered to be shifted to other colleges, the university expressed its inability to adjust first-year students as they had not been registered by it. —TNS
