Rewari has attained third position at the national level in Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2019 conducted by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department of the Central Government.

The survey aimed at providing national ranking of all districts and states of India on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (swachhata) parameters.

The results of the survey were announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a function organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on Wednesday.

Sources said a total of 17,450 villages of 698 districts across the nation were covered by an independent agency under the survey. It visited 87,250 public places like schools, anganwadi and public health centres, haat/bazaars/religious places, panchayats and SC/ST community toilets in all the villages during 45 days from August 15 to September 30.

“A team of IPSOS Research, a survey agency, had carried out the survey of 28 villages of Rewari district from September 4 to 8 to inspect compost pit, soaked pit, ODF board and cleanliness painting there. Besides it, the team also inspected the condition of cleanness of schools, anganwadi centres, primary health centres, community toilets, market, public and religious places of these villages,” said Pradeep Dahiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Rewari.

Dahiya maintained the team also interacted with residents, office-bearers of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), anganwadi workers, school teachers and principals, farmers, doctors, priests, self-help groups and retired persons of the villages to receive their feedback about cleanliness parameters set for the survey.
