Rewari, November 6
The Panchayati Raj Department has decided to replicate the model of Punjab’s Seechewal village in 14 villages of the district. Under the model, treated sewer water would be used for irrigation in these villages.
Sources say these villages include Khushpura, Rasuli, Gaji Gopalpur, Khijuri, Ebrahimpur, Baans, Bisova, Khagadvaas, Chhuriavaas, Jaatuvaas, Aakeda, Kapdivaas and Bariyavaas.
“A group of senior officials of the Panchayati Raj Department from Gurugram and Rewari districts visited Punjab last month to study the Seechewal model. Later, the officials decided to adopt the model in 14 villages of Rewari,” said Dharambir Yadav, Executive Engineer, Panchayati Raj, here.
He said these villages had been selected in the first phase of the programme and more villages would be selected in the second phase.
Under the model, sewer water would be accumulated at one place and then it would pass through various wells with different depths to remove impurities. After treatment, the water would be shifted to a pond for irrigation. “This model is very simple and the water after treatment will be released in the fields,” said Yadav.
The panchayats had started setting up the model in all selected villages, he added.
