Faridabad: The Tigaon road, the lifeline of several residential colonies and villages in Greater Faridabad (Neharpar), is constantly under construction for the past over three months. While it was announced to be four-laned, the work on the road has been dead slow, resulting in lot of inconvenience to commuters. While clouds of dust welcome visitors when the weather is dry, it turns into a slush passage after rainfall. The authorities concerned have not taken up the work of metalling the two-and-a-half kilometre passage so far. — Pinaki Ranjan

Slip roads must not be blocked

Panchkula: Vehicular traffic has increased manifold in Panchkula urban estate over the years and to ease congestion at all major intersections (with or without traffic signals or roundabouts) wide slip roads can help. A comprehensive survey taking into account present and future volume of traffic is needed to finalise locations in one go. It is pertinent to ensure that entry to a side-lane is not blocked by vehicles waiting for green signal at the crossing ahead.  — Lalit Bharadwaj

Punish officials for poor services

Karnal: While it is the duty of all citizens to follow traffic rules, it is the responsibility of the government to maintain all highways and roads to ensure safety. As the Centre has amended the Motor Vehicles Act and imposed heavy penalty rules across the country, there should also be strict rules in place for those responsible for poor condition of highways, roads and traffic lights. The government should carry out public awareness campaigns for at least one month in which instead of imposing heavy penalty, arrangements should be made to provide vehicle insurance, pollution check certificates and helmets to commuters. In schools and colleges, teaching traffic rules should be mandatory and every student should be imparted driving skills. — Shakti Singh
