Rs4,100 brick rate fixed for govt works

The district administration has raised the rates of bricks from Rs 3,700 to Rs 4,100 per thousand keeping in view the demand of contractors executing government works.
The contractors were getting Rs 3,700 per thousand of bricks while the market rate was much higher. Hence, they were not coming forward to undertake and execute government works and development was suffering.
Deputy Commissioner Sunita Verma had constituted a committee headed by ADC Capt Shakti Singh and comprising XENs of the Public Works Department (B&R), Panchayati Raj Department, DDPO, DFSC SK Arora and president of the Kaithal Brick-kiln Association (BKA) Ram Prashad Bansal. After discussions the administration approved the rate of Rs 4,100 per thousand of bricks. This comprises Rs 3,700 as the bricks price and Rs 400 as carriage charges.
The ADC said besides Rs 4,100 per thousand of bricks, the payment to be made to the contractors would also include 5 per cent GST.
