Rohtak: ‘Run for Unity’ was organised in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) with Vice-Chancellor Rajbir Singh flagging off the run. Singh paid tributes to the Iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and exhorted those present in the programme to work steadfastly for unity and integrity of the nation. Dean students’ welfare Raj Kumar also paid tribute to Patel.
Girls win hockey title
Sonepat: Students of the Tika Ram Girls Collegen, Sonepat, won the three-day inter-college women hockey championship of MD University, Rohtak, by defeating the Jat Memorial Girls College, Rohtak, in the finals. College Principal Monika Verma congratulated the team members. Prof Suman Maan of the Physical Education Department informed that 12 hockey players of the college team including team captain Vandna, Nikki, Mahima, Monika, Himani, Ankita, Kiran; goalkeeper, Sweety, Anita, Manisha, Sunita, Ritika and Lalita have been included in college team.
National Unity Day celebrated
Ambala: A Run for Unity was organised at MMDU, Mullana, to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The run was flagged off by Vice-Chancellor Victor Gambhir. Sardar Patel was a great leader of farmers, an administrator and always stood with the poor. His efforts in India’s unity and independence movement will always be remembered.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrated
Karnal: To commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ was celebrated at Anand Public School, Nigdhu. Besides, Haryana Day was also marked. School Director and Anand Educational Society Geetanjali Doda Chairman Subhash Doda along with Principal Jitender Singh highlighted the contribution of Sardar Patel and said that he played an instrumental role in the nation’s struggle for independence and integration of the country.
Marking Patel’s birth anniversary
Yamunanagar: Mukand Lal Public School, Yamunanagar, celebrated the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and National Unity Day with zeal. Principal Shashi Bathla said that the day commenced with informative and thought-provoking speeches by Pawni and Mahi of Class VII and their teacher Megha Maggo. “To mark the day, the school organised ‘Run for Unity’ and an essay writing competition on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to ignite the feeling of unity and strength among the students,” said Bathla. She also mentioned that the NCC cadets participated in the district-level ‘Run for Unity’ programme held here.
Students take pledge of unity
Mahendragarh: Students, teachers and non-teaching employees of Central University of Haryana (CUH) today took a pledge of unity, integrity and security of the nation to mark the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Vice-Chancellor RC Kuhad while speaking on the occasion said Sardar Patel is a symbol of unity and strength and that he made unforgettable contribution in uniting India.
