Sankhol will be developed as the first digital village of the district. It will have facilities such as free Wi-Fi, solar lights and a computer education centre.

The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has selected Sankhol village in Bahadurgarh sub-division under the Digi Gaon scheme.

“The ministry has chosen 22 villages across the state, one in every district, to connect them digitally with banking and loan services. Villagers will be imparted computer education under the Pradhan Mantri Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMDSA),” said Sunil Kumar, District Manager, Atal Seva Kendra.

He maintained six solar lights had already been installed in the village, while the process to provide villagers with Wi-Fi had reached the last phase. “About 300 villagers would be given basic computer education so that they can avail themselves of several online services. The villagers will be taught about internet banking and how to pay of water and electricity bills online,” Kumar added.

“Besides, another computer centre will be established in the village to provide advanced courses which are helpful in getting employment. Under the scheme, villagers will be able to have the facility of getting domicile, ration card, caste certificate, Aadhaar and PAN card made under one roof. “A common service centre has been established. There, one can apply online for the old-age pension, disability and other types of pension, and check the status,” the District Manager said.
