An 18-year-old girl allegedly hung herself to death in Sohna today after being scolded by her mother. The victim identified was a school dropout. The family in its statement claimed that the girl was otherwise happy and they found no reason that would have driven her to take the extreme step.

The police said the family claimed that her mother had scolded her some hours before she took took the extreme step, but it was not that big a matter that could have led to this. No suicide note was recovered and the family insisted on no police action.
