Sex ring busted at Sonepat Cong leader’s farmhouse

With the arrest of five women and 57 men from the farmhouse of Congress leader and former MLA Devraj Dewan on the Sonepat-Bahalgarh road, late Monday night, the police claimed to have busted a sex and gambling racket. The police also seized Rs5.8 lakh from the spot during the raid.
Talking to mediapersons today, DSPs Mukesh Kumar and Pooja Dabla said a team of police officers led by inspector Ajai Kumar were on routine duty, last night, when they received a tip-off that some unlawful activities were going on at a farmhouse on the Bahalgarh road.
“After receiving information, we conducted a raid,” the DSPs said, adding that during the search operation, women and men were found in compromising positions in various rooms of the farmhouse.
The police officials said the arrested persons were also involved in gambling, as the team seized Rs5.8 lakh. Devraj’s son Lalit Dewan was among those arrested, they said.
A case under the Immoral Trafficking Act and Gambling Act had been registered against those arrested at the local Sadar police station. All the arrested persons were produced in court today and the court released them on bail.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Devraj pleaded that though he was the owner of the farmhouse, he had rented it out to one Kapoor. He said he was not aware about the activities going on at the farmhouse.
