Riya, a student of SMB Geeta Senior Secondary School, Naraingarh, secured 494 out of 500 marks and the third position in the Class X examinations, the results of which were declared by the Haryana Board of School Education on Monday.

Riya, daughter of a carpenter, aims to be an IAS officer. She told The Tribune that, “I have been studying in this school since nursery. I was confident of securing a good position. Now, I have opted for non-medical. I want to be an IAS officer”.

She studied for three to four hours regularly. She gives the credit of her success to her teachers and parents.

Riya’s father Subhash Dhiman said, “We are very happy with her success and we will continue to support her in achieving her dreams”.

Soon after the results were announced, Riya’s parents and school staff gathered to congratulate her.

Sudhir Kumar, principal of the school, said, “Riya is a bright student and we all are happy. The school will continue to help her in achieving her goal”.
