The family feud between Leader of the Opposition Abhay Chautala and and Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala seems to have reached a flashpoint with the INLD leadership issuing a show-cause notice to the latter, seeking reply in a week.

Even as the rift in the Chautala clan widened, Abhay on Friday tried to play down the differences saying that his nephews Dushyant and Digvijay were “our children”. He, however, was quick to assert that anyone violating party discipline would face action.

Abhay also feigned ignorance about the show-cause notice to Dushyant, claiming he had only heard it from TV reports.

The rift in the Chautala clan came to the fore on Thursday, when INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala dissolved party’s student and youth wings led by Dushyant and Digvijay, respectively.

Abhay is the younger son of Chautala, while Dushyant and Digvijay are sons of Ajay Chautala, who has been serving a jail term in the JBT teachers’ recruitment scam case.

“There are no differences with Dushyant (and Digvijay). They are our children,” Abhay said in reply to a query. “Discipline is INLD’s biggest strength. If any person violates that, the party will take action.”

The dissolution of student and youth wings of the INLD came after a group of youths reportedly hooted out Abhay and cheered for Dushyant at a rally in Gohana on October 7.

Abhay said the student and youth wings were asked to ensure a smooth conduct of the rally. “When they failed, Chautala saab took action,” he said.

Digvijay has been maintaining that only INSO founder Ajay Chautala could dissolve the wing.

“The INSO is part of the INLD. All programmes are organised under the party flag. Chautala saab is authorised to take any decision. In fact, he was authorised by the party to restructure the organisation at a meeting in Gurugram on October 3,” Abhay added.
