Suman has decided not to wear a bindi on her forehead or bangles and live like a widow till her husband comes out clean in the case of murder of their three young children.

A sobbing Suman told The Tribune at her residence at Sarsa village on Sunday afternoon that the police probe into the case was an eyewash and the investigation should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

She rued that the police first claimed that Sonu and his cousin Jagdeep Malik conspired to murder her three children but later stated that only Jagdeep was involved in the crime.

Sameer (11), Simran (8) and Samar (3) were shot dead in Morni on November 21 and their bodies were retrieved from the forest area on information provided by Jagdeep.

“I have a serious doubt that my husband Sonu hatched a conspiracy with his cousin’s family to eliminate my children. Sonu has an extramarital relationship with a woman in Kaithal and he wanted to get rid of me and my children,” she said while being consoled by her relatives.

Suman learnt about her husband’s alleged illicit relationship in January this year but chose to ignore it in the hope that Sonu would mend his ways. “I learnt about Sonu’s affair from Reena, wife of the prime accused Jagdeep, who is in police custody. Reena had checked Sonu’s Facebook account and told me that he had probably married a Himachali woman living in Kaithal,” said Suman.

She reportedly informed her in-laws and parents about Sonu’s conduct but he refused to discuss the matter with anyone, said Suman.

“I noticed him ignoring our children for the last almost a year. When the three children went missing on November 19, Sonu behaved indifferently for the next couple of days. It made me suspicious about his role in the crime. I have no faith in the ongoing investigation by the Haryana Police,” she added.

Suman also questioned an audio clip that is alleged to be a conversation between Jagdeep and Reena.

“I recognise the voices where the two are discussing how the murders were committed. They are heard talking about Sonu’s illicit relationship as the reason behind the crime. But the police are ignoring these elements,” she alleged.

Meanwhile, Suman’s demand for a CBI probe into the case was also raised at a panchayat attended by several residents from Sarsa and adjoining villages.

Pehowa MLA Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, former Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha HS Chatha and local leaders Aman Cheema and Santosh Dahiya also supported the demand for a CBI probe.

“There are several gaps in the police statements and Suman and her relatives are not satisfied with their probe. We will soon seek an appointment with the Chief Minister for getting the case transferred to the CBI for an impartial investigation,” said Sandhu in unison with others.
