Dev Kishan Meghwal had invited Tanwar’s wife Avantika Maken Tanwar to inaugurate a blood donation camp on the sixth anniversary of his wife’s Mamta ENT Hospital.

The police have booked the doctor, his accomplice Jagrup and five to six others for rioting, unlawful assembly, house trespass and criminal intimidation under Sections 147, 149, 452 and 506 of the IPC in an FIR registered at HUDA police post in Sirsa late on Friday evening.

In his complaint lodged with the police by Sahib Ram, a chowkidar at Tanwar’s residence in Sirsa, alleged that Meghwal, Jagrup and 5 to 6 others barged in the state Congress chief’s residence with arms and ammunition on January 16 evening in the couple’s absence with intention to kill Avantika.

As per Avantika, “The doctor invited me for the blood donation camp that was scheduled to be held at his wife’s Mamta ENT Hospital on January 15. However, I could not keep the date due to some preoccupations. Next evening, he and some others came to our residence with arms and angrily asked about my whereabouts from our servants when he came to know I am not at home. The servants withheld this information from us.”

“Yesterday, a local woman and a journalist told me that the doctor had come prepared to kill me because I did not visit his hospital despite invite. They told me that Meghwal had declared avowedly that he will shoot me,” she told The Tribune over phone.

Atma Ram, in-charge of HUDA Police Post in Sirsa, confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the investigations have been started.

“The police made attempts to arrest the accused, but they have been hiding,” he maintained.

Meghwal, however, described the allegations against him as completely baseless and result of a confusion.

“In fact, I had gone to Tanwar’s residence to deliver sweets to Avantika as she could not make it to the function. When I reached outside his residence, I got a call from an acquaintance who wanted to meet me and I asked him to come to Tanwar’s residence. The man was having a double barrel gun and came there with 5 to 6 others resulting in this confusion,” he maintained.

Meghwal said he was Tanwar’s supporter for long and even wanted to clarify his position to him, but the Congress leader did not respond to his calls.
