The state government has decided to construct silos having a capacity of 6 lakh metric tonnes in the state under the Warehouse Infrastructure Fund of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for sufficient storage of foodgrain. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today to review the progress of various projects being undertaken in the state with the assistance of NABARD. Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu and chairman of NABARD Harsh Kumar Bhanwala were also present at the meeting.

Khattar said the state government had purchased several crops at the minimum support price (MSP) in the state. “Apart from wheat and rice, each and every grain of bajra, mustard and sunflower is being purchased and for this, sufficient storage capacity is required,” said the CM. He directed that a proposal be send to NABARD at the earliest for releasing required funds to the state for the setting up of silos in those districts initially which had comparatively less storage capacity.
