State unveils sops for industry

Basking under the glory of No. 1 ranking in the ease of doing business by the Central Government, the Haryana Government today unveiled a slew of incentives for the industry to make Haryana the next destination of the industry.
Sudhir Rajpal, Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce, while addressing an “Ease of doing business summit” here today, said now state government’s focus had shifted to getting new initiatives on the implementation stage.
Among the new initiatives to give a push to the industrial growth are: Self-certification of factory buildings plans, permission to allow food processing units in the agriculture zones, online mapping of available land for the benefit of the stakeholders and online feedback of different services provided by the state government to the industrialists.
Moreover, a ranking system in respect of various industrial estates developed by various government agencies and different districts was in the pipeline which would give Indian and foreign investors an idea of the respective USP of different areas on which they wanted to set up industrial units, said Rajpal.
In ease of doing business, Haryana was at 14th position in 2015. While the state was at 6th position in 2016 and further bagged 4th position in 2017. Now, the state has bagged the first position in the recent rankings.
Devender Singh, Principal Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology, said the state government had implemented start-up policy, IT and ESDM, communication and connectivity and cyber security policies which had accelerated the pace of industrial development.
SV Goyal, CEO, Model Economic Township Limited, an integrated industrial township in the National Capital Region (NCR) bordering Delhi, emphasised the need to create infrastructure for attracting industrial investment.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were Data Hidayat Abdul Hamid, High Commissioner of Malaysia to India, and Samuel Adamson from the British High Commission.
