Jhajjar, August 31
Students of Government Senior Secondary School at Kasni village in the district staged a dharna outside the school and blocked vehicular traffic on the Jhajjar-Kasni road for half an hour. They also locked the main gate of the school.
They alleged that some teachers gave them corporal punishment and also misbehaved with them. “Teachers beat us with wooden sticks. They even threaten to lodge a police case against us. Hence, we staged a dharna outside the school today to register our protest against their irresponsible behaviour,” said a protesting student.
Block Education Officer Devender reached the village on getting information about the protest and got the locked gate of the school opened with the help of local elderly people. He also persuaded the children to clear the road.
“Some anti-social elements had provoked the students for the agitation. They misguided villagers too. The issue has been resolved,” said an officer of the Education Department.
