Students can now get driving licences from colleges, varsities

Students will now be able get their learner’s driving licence in their educational institutions across Haryana.
This would be possible after an amendment to the Haryana Motor Vehicle Rules, 1993, which was okayed at a meeting of the state Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today.
The Amendment will help authorise officials of the educational institutions to act as the licensing authority for the issuance of learner’s driving licence for non-transport vehicles to students of their respective institutions.
These authorised officials include the registrars of all universities, directors of medical colleges, directors/ principals of engineering and technology Institutions, principals of government colleges, government-aided colleges, government colleges of education, government polytechnics, industrial training institutes, government nursing colleges, government pharmacy colleges and directors/principals of government ayurvedic, homeopathy, allopathic and unani colleges.
Approval for posts
The Cabinet today approved the filling of six posts of Management Trainee/ Manager (Finance) by Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) through direct recruitment at its own level by the selection committee. The committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary.
New regulations
The Cabinet approved the amendment to the Haryana Development and Panchayats Department (Group C) Field Officers Rules, 2012. Under the amendment, the qualification for the post of Gram Sachiv has been raised from matriculation to graduation.
Service norms
The relaxation in Service Rules-2012 for various categories of teachers for promotion to the post of PGT physics, PGT chemistry and PGT mathematics was also approved. The Cabinet also gave its approval to amend the Mewat District School Education (Group B) Service Rules, 2012. The new rules will be called the Mewat District School Education (Group B) Service (Amendment) Rules, 2019.
Power dept proposal
The proposal of the Power Department was okayed for providing state government guarantee of Rs 250 crore to Andhra Bank against the sanction of a cash credit limit of Rs 250 crore to the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN). The Cabinet also approved the Haryana Food and Drugs Administration Department, Head Quarter (Group B) Service Rules, 2018. It also gave its approval to the Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Department Revenue Establishment Service (Group-C) Rules, 2019.
Land for police station
The proposal of the Urban Local Bodies Department to transfer one acre land of the Gurugram MC to the police department for the construction of Police Station at Rajendra Park was also approved. The meeting also gave its nod for the setting up of the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) and Traffic Park in Murthal, Sonepat.
