Three get 20 yrs in jail for raping minor

Additional District and Sessions Judge (fast track court) BR Chalia sentenced three youths to 20 years in jail each for raping a minor girl.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 each on the convicts identified as Himanshu of Gharonda in Karnal district and his two friends Kamal and Pramod.
On July 1, 2018, a man lodged a complaint at the Civil Lines police station, stating that his 16-year-old daughter had gone missing. A case under the POCSO Act was registered and the CCTV footage showed the girl leaving with someone in a car.
However, on July 2, her family received information that she was at Zirakpur in Punjab with some relatives. She was brought to Sonepat and the police got her medically examined and recorded her statement. The victim said she had developed friendship with Himanshu on Facebook and the latter kidnapped her on June 30 night. Kamal and Pramod were also sitting in the car and they took her to a hotel at Shimla, where they raped her.
After getting to know about the police complaint, the convicts dropped her at Zirakpur and fled. —OC
