Sonepat: “Society cannot forget the supreme sacrifices made by the soldiers for the unity and integrity of the nation during peace and war times,” said BJP’s state media in charge, Rajiv Jain, while paying tributes to Capt Deepak Sharma at Bidhlan village in Sonepat on Sunday. Jain said Capt Deepak sacrificed his life on this day in 2010 while fighting against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. He was awarded with Kirti Chakra by the Union Government in recognition to his supreme sacrifice. Despite being seriously injured, Capt Deepak continued to lead his soldiers against the terrorists and eliminated three terrorists before breathing his last.The occasion was marked by unveiling his statue in the village and also organising a kabaddi competition.

ACP’s transfer leaves residents fuming 

Faridabad: The sudden transfer of Rajesh Kumar Chechi, ACP Crime, has left residents upset. Supported by local social activists, the residents not only staged a demonstration on Saturday, but also demanded cancellation of his transfer order. A group of local residents held a formal press conference on Sunday to decry the move. Kumar was transferred after kin of a murder victim levelled allegations against the ACP for allegedly being biased in the probe. The ACP also denied the allegations. The residents protesting against his transfer, claimed that the officer was honest and hardworking and charges against him were politically motivated.

Holi exhibition at Vatsalya Special School

Ambala: A Holi exhibition was organised for differently-abled children of Vatsalya Special School in Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday. Children had prepared organic colours, which were put up on sale. Brig SS Sidhu, president of the Cantonment Board, Ambala, was the chief guest on the occasion. Varun Kalia, CEO of the Cantonment Board, said, “The purpose of organising the exhibition was to showcase the talent of speacial children to people.” Vatsalya Special School is run by the Cantonment Board. Kalia said the board had strengthened the school’s infrastructure. Besides, a sensory park was also being developed in the school. Parents of the children and staff of various schools were invited to the exhibition. The children earned nearly Rs 9,000 and it would be equally distributed among them, added Kalia.

Stone of Aggarsain chowk laid

Panipat: Chander Shekhar Khare, Deputy Commissioner, and his wife Dr Rajni Goyal Khare, chairperson of the Red Cross Welfare Hospital, along with Rajesh Goyal, a social worker, laid the foundation stone of Maharaja Aggarsain Chowk in Sector 25 here on Saturday. The chowk was a long pending demand of the Aggarwal society. The government has given Rs 37 lakh for its construction under the CM announcement. Goyal said Panipat was the only city where there was no chowk on the name of Maharaja Aggarsain. A 20-feet statue will also be established. “The Maharaja Aggarsain Organisation will take care of it’s beutification,” said Neeraj Gupta, president of the Aggarwal Sangathan.
