Shri Om (39), a rifleman with 21 Assam Rifles, made a claim to enter the Guinness Book of World Record by running with a shopping trolley and complete the half-marathon (21 km and100 m) in 1 hour, 48 minutes and 49 seconds.
The Guinness authorities had given him two hours to complete the half-marathon. The National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFAA) had oragnised the event. Superintendent of Jails Sher Singh flagged off the run.
Pritpal Singh Pannu, NIFAA chairman, said the forum would send the video recording and photographs of Shri Om’s run to the Guinness authorities.
Shri Om’s name features twice in the Limca Book of Records. “Now, my aim is to enter the Guinness Book of World Records,” he said.
In 2014, he had set up a record by completing 100 km in 17 hours and 50 minutes by tying 10-kg weight to his body. The next year, he completed 104 km in 13 hours and 35 minutes by tying a 10-kg weight to his body.
For such feats, Shri Om was awarded by Swami Gyananand, the founder of Shri Krishan Kripa Dham in Mathura (Vrindavana).
